Shonah Raffan - Managing Director

Strategic Resources was formed in November 1987 with Shonah joining the company in May 1988. She has been Managing Director of Strategic Resources since 1995.

Shonah is responsible for contractual, QA and financial decisions and for the overall performance of Strategic Resources. She also is involved in recruitment for specific clients with whom she has long-term relationships.

Alfie Smith - Director

Alfie joined Strategic Resources in 1996 and was appointed Director in 1997. He is responsible for contract and permanent recruitment as well as executive search and advertising assignment.

He has over 30 years' experience in human resources and sourcing personnel for the oil and gas industries and is highly regarded within his field of expertise.

Gary Gray - Senior Recruitment Consultant

Gary joined our Team in May 2005. An experienced Recruitment Consultant and a Member of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals, he is responsible for his own portfolio of clients and building relationships with candidates and contractors.

Gary is involved in contract and permanent recruitment of engineering and commercial personnel. He also carries out salary surveys.

Catherine Jones - Recruitment Consultant

Catherine joined Strategic Resources in November 2010 as an Admin Assistant where she supported the Consultants and Directors. In July 2011, Catherine was promoted to the position of Recruitment Consultant. Catherine is responsible for contract and permanent recruitment of commercial and technical personnel.

Gregor Angus - Commercial Assistant

Gregor joined Strategic Resources in February 2010, completing his MSc Management, Enterprise and Innovation later that year from the University of Aberdeen, where he previously gained an MA (Hons) in Sociology.

Gregor’s duties include sourcing and recruiting permanent, contract and temporary candidates and assisting Consultants throughout the recruitment process. Working with the Managing Director, he is involved in Strategic Resources’ marketing strategies and reporting on company performance and activities at an operational level.

Linda Ross - Personal Assistant/QA Co-ordinator

Linda has been with the company since 1989 and oversees the administration staff, office procedures and in-house quality assurance/control. Working with the Managing Director she is responsible for the co-ordination of all ISO9001:2008 QA documentation and procedures.

Linda is also Personal Assistant to the Director, assisting him with all day-to-day issues.

Margaret Mathieson - Personal Assistant

Margaret joined Strategic Resources in 2001. She assists the Consultants & Directors with contacting candidates and ensures that vacancies are uploaded to our website and external job boards. Margaret also assists in the preparation and monitoring of PAYE and Limited Company contracts, organising staff training and facilities management.

Brian Robertson - Finance Controller and Company Secretary

Brian is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years' experience with SMEs in the Aberdeen area. His key responsibilities comprise profit and cash forecasting, monthly and year-end reporting, treasury management, overseas taxation and financial and legal compliance. His role also incorporates the supervision and development of the accounting, payroll, accounts payable and credit control functions.

Karen Watson - Assistant Finance Controller

Karen started with the company in 2006 and is our Assistant Finance Controller. She is responsible for the preparation of the monthly payroll for PAYE Temporary Workers and for overseeing both the weekly payroll and Limited Company contractor payments. She also prepares the month-end sales and purchases reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy of all invoices sent out to clients.

She is heavily involved in assisting the Financial Controller with compiling month-end and year-end accounts.

Rebecca Stirling - Finance Assistant

Rebecca, as Finance Assistant, is responsible for the processing of the Limited Company contractor invoices, from reconciliation with approved timesheets and expenses through to the preparation of the BACS payments and client sales invoices. She is currently studying through the Open University for a degree in Astrophysics.

As Credit Controller, Clarice works part-time contacting and liaising with Clients regarding outstanding invoices. She also assists with cash flow projections and month-end accounting duties.
