Reporting Scientist (Forensic Drug and Alcohol)
Purpose of Role
To analyse materials for the presence of controlled substances, or to determine the level of alcohol in blood and urine samples, in order to prepare and present reports on the findings to courts and tribunals.
A Reporting Manager role for drug or alcohol analysis, with priorities to deliver departmental excellence and efficiency driven by the ever increasing demands of the business and our customers. The role involves working flexibly within the Drugs and Alcohols team and collaboratively with other departments in order to meet customer requirements. There will be a strong emphasis on continuous process improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage your own resources including a personal case load, taking responsibility for your own continued professional development.
Determine the forensic examination to be undertaken
Undertake the technical analysis of forensic samples
Assign meaningful conclusions to forensic findings
Prepare written reports regarding forensic submissions
Provide expert evidence to courts
Skills & Competencies
Ability to analyse materials for controlled substances, or to determine the level of alcohol in blood and urine samples, by using analytical techniques including IR, GC-MS, HPLC and GC-FID.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including well developed reporting and presentation skills.

Scientific or related degree essential.
Considerable previous experience in the forensic reporting of drugs is essential. (Candidates who do not have this experience will not be considered) Experience in the forensic reporting of alcohol is desirable.
Prior experience as a court-going reporting scientist would be advantageous.
