Technical Author: Operating Manuals
Outline Job Description
As the Technical Author: Operating Manuals you will be based in the Aberdeen office and be responsible for implementing improvements to the technical content, structure and format of Operating Manuals of Floating Production Assets.
Key aspects to include will be the development of standardised layout/format/style of the operating procedures, and updating the necessary documents to incorporate such improvements. Also required will be the implementation of output of safety critical task analysis into Operating Manuals. Necessary will be plain English and ensuring readability into technical documentation as well as reducing word count to ensure documents are clear and concise.
Result areas for this position will include updating Procedures and standards as per mark ups and user comments. Creating new documents or re-formatting existing documents in accordance with Company specifications. Using electronic document / information management systems and writing and preparing documentation in an easy-to-understand language. Checking for style, structure, grammar, errors, syntax, punctuation and spellings in Technical Documentation. Working closely with Discipline Engineers to ensure accuracy of the documentation and developing audit protocols.
You will report directly to the Operations Superintendent.
We are looking for -
A Technical Author with experience in the UK Sector.
Furthermore, you will have -
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline OR equivalent experience in North Sea Offshore Operations
Of benefit would be offshore certification
