Contractor Management Services or is it “Payrolling”

The swan that gracefully moves on a lake is a picture of elegance in motion but what is hidden from the eye is the activity going on beneath the water’s surface. When we talk about, “Contractor Management Services” or “Payrolling”, this is very similar to the hard work conducted behind the scenes by a Recruitment Business.

Strategic Resources is delighted to have agreements and relationships with clients, whereby they ask if we can assist with organising regular contractual payments, for services provided, to either PAYE Agency Workers or Limited company contractors.

However, there are often misconceptions in the work involved for the recruitment business to organise these payments. Strategic Resources, as a business, ensure that all contractors are on the specified conditions required by the client.  The contracts issued to the contractors are back-to-back contractual terms which we have with our clients. Contractor contracts are regularly updated with changes such as legislation, contract extensions, client contract and policy amendments. Contracts are then re-issued to contractors to ensure that terms are fully adhered to.

We also monitor contractor documentation for expiry dates, contacting contractors to remind them to update their paperwork. This includes offshore survival and medical certificates, passports; Employers & Public Liability insurance etc. ensuring that details are kept up to date and contractors can continue to provide their services to our clients. Clients are contacted 4-6 weeks prior to the contractor's end date to ensure continuity of contract or to discuss any end date.

Our finance team also contact contractors if they have failed to invoice or where timesheets have not been submitted. To ensure that contractors are ‘paid on time every time’ we go the extra mile to provide the best service possible.

Our clients regularly ask Strategic Resources to ‘Benchmark’ industry rates or salaries. Ad-hoc surveys are all part of the service we provide to our clients however large surveys can take a Recruitment Specialist a couple of days to complete.

We also report on RTI (Real Time Information) and ITEPA (Income Tax (Earnings & Pensions) Act 2003) to HMRC, ensuring all statutory obligations, relating to client contractors, are met.

The swan’s movement is an ideal metaphor for our Contractor Management Service and we hope that our clients and contractors feel that way too.
