We are currently recruiting for a Drilling Engineer on behalf of our client, an Oil and Gas operator. This is a 12 month contact based in Aberdeen.
The purpose of the role is to provide technical and operational drilling expertise such that all assigned activities can be performed safely, on budget and on time.
Executing drilling, completion and abandonment activities for a specific rig including: HSE and Q, engineering, planning, execution support, knowledge/ synergy and experience transfer, schedule & cost performance, regulatory and corporate compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Implement safe, environmentally sound and efficient well operations
Work with the Subsurface teams to implement the Well Design and Delivery Process, clearly identifying project scope, risks and associated costs
Develop the well design and operational procedures in accordance with company standards and implementing lessons learned from offset wells
Work with vendors to ensure that all equipment needed is identified and ordered
Prepare basis of design documentation and OSDR Notification
Provide operational support during implementation
Write end of well reports, capturing any lessons learned
Degree qualified in engineering (consideration will be given to non-degree qualified candidates with appropriate experience)
Valid well control certificate preferred
Valid offshore survival certificate and medical preferred
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Working knowledge of Landmark well engineering software packages (Wellplan, Compass, Wellcat)
Experience and Knowledge
Previous experience in a similar role
A proven track record of taking multiple wells and well types through the planning cycle and on into execution is essential
Experience drilling HPHT wells in the UKCNS and using MPD an advantage but not essential
