SENIOR CONTRACTS MANAGER (OFFSHORE WIND)

Reports to: Commercial Manager

Location: Aberdeen or London (hybrid working available)

During the project development phase the main tasks of the Senior Contracts Manger will include:

Careful development and management of the commercial relationships with key suppliers,

Contributing to development of a commercial and procurement strategy for the pipeline of projects,

Developing contract documentation for specific packages of work, including major construction contracts,

Preparing and managing tender processes,

Leading tender evaluation and making selection recommendations,

Negotiation of contracts through to contract signature,

Commercial management of contracts after signature through to completion of the related works,

Effective claims and variations management to minimise cost overruns and ensure contractors comply with contract requirements,

Reporting to and advising senior management on contract issues arising,

Supporting the Capex and Opex estimation for the project,

Supporting preparation of competitive bids for state financial support,

Potential line management responsibility for junior members of the team if and when recruited.

The contracts and agreements under the responsibility of the job holder include the following:

Main supplier contracts for the project, including pre-FID agreements required with key suppliers and service and maintenance contractors,

Agreements required for cable crossing and proximity agreements,

Service and development agreements,

Landowner and asset owner agreements, and seabed lease agreements, in particular to ensure project compliance with the lease

The Senior Contracts Manager shall demonstrate exemplary behaviour with regards to HSE rules, and shall ensure that all activities she/he is responsible for, or involved in, are performed with the highest level of consideration to HSE risk management, protection of human’s health, respect of various communities and care of environment.

Desired Skills and Experience:

The position will require a university degree or equivalent level of education, preferably in legal, general engineering, technical or commercial qualification. The candidate will demonstrate a broad-based commercial or technical background and first-class negotiations skills. Experience in the offshore wind environment is highly desirable. The position requires relevant experience in a contract negotiation and management environment, with significant experience of demonstrable contracting / procurement management experience.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they have the following capabilities:

Knowledge of EPCI forms of contract,

Leading all commercial aspects in the tendering and contracting phase,

Strong commercial contract and negotiation skills,

Be results-oriented, able to meet tight deadlines and produce concise information for senior management,

Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage own workload, meet timescales and coordinate a number of external and internal stakeholders,

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to enable effective discussion and transfer of information between contractors, team members and other stakeholders,

Diligent and detail-focused,

Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken),

Ability to work as a member of a large, multidisciplinary and international team,

Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
