SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER
Job Purpose Statement:
Create, review and approve engineering documentation, manage the engineering of projects, and manage project life of field activities all under the control of the client’s electronic data management systems whilst working to current industry codes and contract specifications; and whilst using the client’s Standard Operating Procedures, Global Work Instructions, and Business Process Management Systems.
Support Operations - Provide engineering support and guidance to soft allocation and equipment forecasting activities within the organisation.
Support Operations - Provide Engineering support to the purchasing and quality functions, including dispositioning of concessions and responding to supplier queries.
Support Projects - Review and approve sales order BOMs.
Support Projects - Create new, or customise existing, designs for projects from customer or internally generated specifications, create, review and approve design layouts and formalize / approve design documentation. Verify designs where necessary using classical analysis techniques. Present designs to engineering staff during internal design reviews.
Support Projects - Provide on-call Engineering support and technical assistance for live project activities in the field.
Support Refurbishment - Provide technical advice and disposition to all rental equipment refurbishment activities related to the EWS business.
Support Sales - Provide quotation engineering support and guidance on the EWS product line and create, review and approve quotation layouts and BOMs.
Support SI Engineering Hub - Create and maintain Master Service Manuals for standard product line.
Support SI Operations - Provide Engineering support to purchasing and quality functions, including dispositioning of concessions and responding to supplier queries.
Support Engineering Internal Function - Provide guidance and mentoring to more junior members of the engineering team.
Support Engineering Internal Function - Provide support to the Engineering Group Leader for reporting and team management activities.
Working as part of a small Engineering team supporting the Exploration Wellhead Systems business, providing engineering support to operations and projects throughout sales order life cycles.
Development of, and design control of, the Tersus mudline and POS-GRIP rental wellhead product lines.
As a senior member of the engineering team the role requires behaviours that are strongly aligned to the client core values, and sets an example to others.
The role is office based with the majority of time spent sitting and operating a workstation. The role may require minimal time exposed to a workshop or off-shore environment which brings possible exposure to shop hazards including heavy machinery / equipment, high noise, chemicals, and shop traffic.
Ability to design and engineer with focus on cost reduction without compromise on safety or quality.
Ability to manage project budget and timescales.
Ability to learn about client’s expansive product line to enable innovation in iES products.
Ability to learn from all successes and failures both locally and expansively across the client.
Ability to share knowledge across a worldwide organisation and to junior members of team.
Ability to develop key relationships required of the role across multiple sites in different countries.

High level of experience as a design engineer (or equivalent) in a product design environment.
Good knowledge of Surface Wellhead products and applications.
Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Honours degree with C. Eng status is preferred.
Aptitude in design and mechanical engineering, including the ability to create, read, review and approve technical documentation.
Should be innovative and creative and have a drive and ability for self-learning.
Proficiency in verbal and written communication with good technical report writing skills.
Ability to coach and mentor junior members of the engineering team.
Should have good interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborate well within a diverse workplace.
Maintain a professional attitude in all aspects of the role.
