SENIOR/PRINCIPAL INSTALLATION ANALYSIS ENGINEER
Job purpose:
Define and engineer installation analysis solutions within the UK I&C engineering department.
Act as a technical and technological reference for installation analysis, in accordance with the client and industry standards, procedures and processes. Define schedules and resource forecasting, with a continuous concern for quality, targets, and customer satisfaction both internal as well as external of the client.
Reporting lines and interactions:
Hierarchically reports to: I&C Engineering Senior Manager
Operationally reports to: I&C Installation Analysis Manager
In-directly supervises: Junior Engineers
Job scope (budget, management, specific criteria):
Perform engineering work related to Installation Analysis, including:
Static and dynamic installation analyses of all reeled products (rigid pipeline, flexible flowlines, umbilical’s etc);
Support to offshore campaigns with weather forecasting and/or use of vessel motion monitoring equipment;
Spools and structures lift analysis;
Contribute to installation analysis solutions within tenders and front-end studies.
Support & participate in Design or Risk Reviews & HIRAs when required.
Support the knowledge development within the installation analysis discipline by providing guidance, training and mentoring to engineers.
Writing, checking and approval of technical reports and documents;
Interface with external bodies as required, e.g. design houses, clients or certifying authorities.
Consult and problem solve various engineering design problems;
Liaise with the client’s Project Management Teams on regular basis with update on scope of work progress. Managing work scopes and timelines to ensure all work is delivered in the most efficient manner.
Contribute to the consolidation of engineering experience in the discipline, including building up best practices and expertise within the Analysis team.
Support any managements of change (MOC) relating to Installation Analysis.
Advise offshore teams & assist in correct and timely reporting on Installation Analysis related issues.
Develop a positive working relationship with our Clients to ensure we meet their expectations.
Provide technical support & guidance to PMTs for the appropriate understanding & implementation of Installation Analysis results.
Be part of client & wider industry installation analysis networks.
Implement improvement solutions for installation analysis and support the wider business Simplification, Standardisation & Industrialization (SSI) initiatives.
Essential Qualifications:
Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience
Nice to have:
Chartered Professional Engineer (or equivalent registration)
Essential Experience Required:
Significant experience as a Structural Engineer.
Proven experience in the following installation analysis activities:
Installation analysis for rigid pipelines installed by reel lay
Installation analysis for Static Flexible Pipes and Umbilicals
Installation analysis for Risers and Dynamic Umbilicals
Structures and spool lift analysis
Infield dynamic analysis
Extensive experience using OrcaFlex.
Programming skills, preferably Python, to develop script for analysis team or other departments as required.
The ability to use and modify as required the existing analysis scripts.
Willingness to take responsibility for design challenges.
Good management of own time, project teams and customer interfaces.
The ability to solve technical problems using a sound understanding of basic engineering principles.
The ability to perform hand calculation proofs of all engineering work.
The ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision and work on own initiative.
Experience of supervising junior discipline engineers
Nice to have:
Offshore experience on: pipelay, riser installation or umbilical installation.
Installation analysis for rigid pipelines installed by S-Lay / J-Lay
Riser in-place analysis experience
Mooring design or installation analysis experience
