SENIOR GEOPHYSICIST

Our client, an Oil and Gas Operator in Aberdeen is seeking an experienced Geoscientist for a minimum 6 Month contract. The client is ideally looking for candidates with strong experience in:

  • Geophysics / Geoscience within North Sea assets
  • Infill well planning
  • Subsurface interpretation and integration
  • Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams

Role Purpose:

Supporting the subsurface team. Specific responsibility for geophysical evaluation, field development and near field exploration. Proven experience in planning and delivering development wells is essential.

Travel Required:

Occasional as required

Main Tasks:

Essential

Geophysical support for well planning and potentially the operational phase of development drilling.

Geophysical interpretation and support to the assets for field development, subsurface mapping, reservoir modelling and well planning. Provide technical input into Field Development plans and Reservoir Management plans as required.

Subsurface mapping and the integration of seismic data with geological, well and production data to develop fit-for-purpose subsurface depth structure maps, structural interpretations, and reservoir quality predictions to be provided as input for reservoir models.

Integration of relevant geophysical data, including interpretations and rock physics models, leading to the identification and maturation of in-field and near-field drilling targets and production improvement opportunities.

Management of geophysical studies carried out by in house and by 3rd party contractors and vendors

Provision of input for enhanced processing of seismic datasets and QI projects

Support of the Company’s process of change and continual improvement

The key internal interfaces in the role are with Subsurface & Wells, Operations, and Projects personnel involved in the work programme and the development opportunities

The key external interfaces in the role are 3rd party contractors and vendors, partners, and regulatory authorities

Qualifications/Experience Required

Degree qualified or equivalent, preferably to MSc or higher level

Substantial oil industry experience, preferably with an operating company

Strong technical background in seismic interpretation & well delivery

Up-to-date knowledge of interpretation in Petrel software packages preferred

An understanding of other subsurface disciplines
